Smash star Megan Hilty has signed to Colombia Records

According to the Hollywood reporter, Smash star, Megan Hilty, will soon add recording artist to her resumé. The Broadway vet has signed to Colombia Records through Sony subsidiary Masterworks, a label that typically handles classical music releases. Though, recently, the label has added Kristen Chenoweth and Wilson Phillips. Last year, Hilty’s Smash co-star Katherine McPhee also signed with Colombia records.

There is no news yet as to when an album can be expected, but according to the Reporter, the star has been working on demos.

Megan Hilty made her Broadway debut as Glinda in Wicked, a role she she also performed with the national tour and in Los Angeles. Hilty also played Doralee in the Broadway production of 9 to 5: The Musical. She was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, the Drama League Award for Distinguished performance, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical.

Currently, Hilty is in production on the animated film “Dorothy of Oz” with Kelsey Grammer, Hugh Dancy and Lea Michele as well as starring in NBC’s new musical series “Smash.”
