Emmy Award winning actor Sean Hayes will reunite with his “Will and Grace” co-star in a multi-episode arc on NBC’s “Smash.”

Hayes will play Terrence Falls, a comedic television and film star who is making his Broadway debut in the musical “Liaisons,” based on the novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.” According to press notes, due to a series of comic circumstances, Falls becomes a thorn in the side for Ivey Lynn (Megan Hilty) and other characters.

The actor’s accolades include, along with his Emmy Award win for his portrayal of Jack McFarland on NBC’s “Will & Grace,” four Screen Actors Guild Awards, seven Golden Globe nominations and a Tony nomination last year for Best Actor in a Musical after making his Broadway debut in Promises, Promises opposite Kristin Chenoweth.

Hayes recently starred as Larry in “The Three Stooges” movie, and is appearing in the upcoming action comedy “Hit and Run” with Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, Kristin Chenoweth and Bradley Cooper.

Also adding to the long list of additions to NBC’s musical series, Tony Award nominee Sheryl Lee Ralph has been tapped to play Jennifer Hudson’s mother Cynthia. Ralph earned her Tony Award nomination for creating the role of Deena Jones in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, while Hudson won an Oscar for her portrayal of Effie White in the movie adaptation of the musical.

In addition to Dreamgirls, Ralph has appeared on Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Her television and film credits include Lauryn Hill’s mother in “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit,” “Moeshsa” and “Designing Women.”
