I saw West Side Story (Broadway) on 06/20/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “A solid show, but did not live up to my expectations of such an iconic show, or its rave reviews.”

I was very disappointed with Josefina Scaglione's performance as Maria, I refuse to believe they really couldn't find a better singer. That said, Karen Olivo's replacement for Anita, Natalie Cortez, was more than capable of such a wonderful role.

The choreography was, of course, fantastic, but at times the dancing seemed tired and loose. I also wondered how the non-Spanish speaking members of the audience who were being introduced to the show for the first time could follow along since there was so much Spanish, even one of the signature numbers.
