I saw The Phantom of the Opera (Broadway) on 11/28/09. Overall, I'd say it was a 3-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “Classic piece of American Theatre that is worth seeing...once”
The Phantom of the Opera i a good piece of theatre, but I wouldn't go back many times to see it. Try and get the discounted tickets is possible, because I'm not sure if the show is worth the ticket value. The chandallier is something to be had and the singing is impressive, though the show is clearly outdated (I know, it's from '88, but it's hard to see this after the spectacles next door). The show is a classic so it is worth seeing once. This is appropriate for ages 10 and under. You do see a man being hanged so if you know your child can't handle that, don't go see it. There was a lack of energy and spirit from the actors. It didn't make it necessarily interesting to watch.
