A Review of The Addams Family (Broadway)
By Anonymous, December 03, 2010
I saw The Addams Family (Broadway) on 11/21/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 1-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “It was a very long 2.5 hours. I only laughed twice.”
I had a dreadful time and left the show feeling disappointed and happy it was over. I'd describe the show as lacking, horrific, and unfunny. Jackie hoffman was a highlight of the show because she's actually funny. If this were a movie, I'd rate it PG-13. I would recommend this show to people who don't know any better but not to most people.
I saw this show because I was given tickets. I wouldn't see it again. I sat in the left mezzanine area of the theater. The view was clear and the seats were fine.
I'm not a Bebe Neuwirth fan, and this show reminded me why. It was my first time seeing Nathan Lane, and he just over-did it. The accent was interesting and he thought he was much funnier than he was. I thought the jokes were terrible and the music was completely uninspired. I kept wondering if people around me were watching the same show because they seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's a big seller among tourists, and that's fine, but it's not a show that I'll see again. I'd rather see something that's a little more stimulating and intelligent.
