A Review of Seminar (Broadway)
By Brian C., January 04, 2012
I saw Seminar (Broadway) on 01/03/12. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “this is Ms. Rebeck's best work to date, with perfect casting, acting and direction! ”
I had a great time and left the show feeling hopeful and impressed. I'd describe the show as funny, dark, and provocative. The detailed, smart character work from the cast was a highlight of the show because they worked as perfect bookends to the others. If this were a movie, I'd rate it R. I would recommend this show to anyone who loves great modern plays but not to N/A.
I saw this show because I see it all. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was perfect and the seats were tight, as the Golden is infamous for.
This is a rare 5-star review across the board from me, but I really have no reservations about this show. A well cast ensemble, great acting, Ms. Rebeck's intelligent, wry and theatrical work, and strong direction make for a wonderful evening at the Golden. Go.
