A Review of Jerusalem (Broadway)
By Angela W., April 21, 2011
I saw Jerusalem (Broadway) on 04/14/11. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “In a season where most new Broadway shows are saccharine, Jerusalem is a needed breath of fresh air.”
Mark Rylance's performance in "Jerusalem" is nothing short of astounding. Often hysterical and occasionally heartbreaking, I have rarely been more moved while at the theater; it is a truly moving and funny portrait of a man struggling to survive in a changing world. While the show is quite funny, viewers should be warned that its humor is very dark.
In a season where most new Broadway shows are saccharine, "Jerusalem" is a needed breath of fresh air. A must-see for theater enthusiasts.
