A Review of In the Wake (Off Broadway)
By Erin O., November 13, 2010
I saw In the Wake (Off Broadway) on 11/12/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 4-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “A smart, funny, political show that shows that individual lives keep churning amid national events.”
In the Wake begins with the Gore/Bush election and goes through Hurricane Katrina. It is narrated by the protagonist, who is a fiercely liberal New Yorker. While we hear her political passions, we also watch her personal relationships and sense of self develop over the years. Lisa Kron's In the Wake is a clean, wise story and will bring you back to the first years of this century.
