I saw Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Broadway) on 10/10/10. Overall, I'd say it was a 5-star rating. I'd summarize it by saying “It's a rock musical about our seventh president. The show's not for everyone, but it's for me.”
I had a fabulous time and left the show feeling energized and joyous. I'd describe the show as hilarious, sexy, and different. Ben walker was a highlight of the show because he has such a commanding stage presence. If this were a movie, I'd rate it R. I would recommend this show to funny people who are open-minded about their theatre but not to young kids or people who can't take a joke.
I saw this show because I love that it's not your average Broadway show. I would see it again. I sat in the center orchestra area of the theater. The view was awesome and the seats were comfy.
I've seen this show several times already in previews, and it's really cool to see how it's changed throughout. It's a much tighter production now, and I'm already excited to go back again. Ben Walker gives such a great performance and I hope he's remembered when the Tony nominations come out. I realize that this show will not be a good fit for everybody, and that's fine. I had an older woman sitting in front of me who had a horrified expression on her face the entire show. She probably should have gone to see Phantom again, but I appreciate that she wanted something different even if she didn't like it. I just hope that this show sticks around long enough for everyone to experience it.
