Krysta Rodriguez of Broadway’s The Addams Family Joins Smash Cast; Leslie Odom Jr. Becomes Series Regular

More casting news for the musical TV series “Smash.” Raza Jaffrey’s (Karen’s boyfriend, Dev) exit leaves room for a new roommate. Krysta Rodriguez will play that roommate. Rodriguez will play Ana, a full regular cast member in season two. She will play Karen’s (Katherine McPhee) “fun and spunky” new roomie. The character is an ensemble actress in Broadway shows who is looking for a big break, much like Ivy, played by Megan Hilty.

Rodriguez starred as “Wednesday Addams” in The Addams Family on Broadway. Coincidentally, current “Smash” star Wesley Taylor, who plays chorus member Bobby, appeared as her opposite. Her other Broadway credits include Spring Awakening, In the Heights and Good Vibrations.

Addiitonally, Leslie Odom Jr. will become a series regular in season two. He appeared as “Sam,” a chorus member and also the love interest of Tom (Christian Borle), in 12 episodes of season one.

Odom Jr. made his Broadway debut in the spring with Leap of Faith. His film an television credits include “Red Tails,” “House of Lies,” “Vanished,” “CSI: Miami,” “Big Day” and appearances on “Supernatural,” “Grey’s Anatomy.”
